I fear I have created a jelly
belly addiction in my dog. She is crazy for them. She especially

Wow, I am so totally sick. My throat hurts a lot and I'm all
disoriented and stuff. My plan is the same as it has always been
when sick - water. I will drink so much water that I will not
be sick anymore.

Lots of things going on. Can't believe how busy I am. I changed
Sifl [my gateway at home] from slackware linux to FreeBSD 4.4. The
special and fancy hugkern.
I'm really enjoying it so far. I turned on firewall logging, as
well as some other fun logging options and have been watching the
activity. Interesting. Nothing more fun than analyzing logs. Yum.
I think I will install Apache and some other things tonight. I don't
even have a webbrowser or mail client yet. Not even pine. Heh.
Unfortunately, my second monitor died mysteriously, so I'm pulling
the cable from Sifl [BSD] to Olly [windows] when I want to change
things. I got sshd working, so I can at least shell in from windows,
but I am really excited about using windowmaker. It is so beautiful.
I'll be making a nice girlvinyl.com windowmaker theme as soon as
I get a chance, and will put it up for download. I have already
had a few people commit to switch from enlightenment if I make one.
So, that rocks. How exciting. As soon as I get gimp installed and
a web browser, I will take some screenshots and we can all enjoy
the pretty gui. Mmmmm.

I've been incredibly busy at work lately, so, if I'm not returning
your email or answering messages, I'm sorry. Things should slow
down around the middle of January. Looking to do some things at
work, and some changes at home. First, work - will migrate NT to
2k server. Will migrate all desktop machines to 2k pro. Will implement
second server for desktop user backups, using samba and linux. Samba
looks fun. Quite excited. I think squid for access control is a
great idea. It looks difficult. Also thinking about maybe building
a separate BSD firewall. That would be fun, and make me happy, and
I could mess with ipf.
For home I would like to replace Sifl with
something better. Something better than linux could only
be BSD. I will need help. HugMe
said he would help. However, he is incredibly busy. I will
try and make an appointment with him. And I don't mean that
kind of appointment. Also, he is into FreeBSD, whereas,
OpenBSD is the official operating system of the redfirenation.

So, lots of tech fun coming up at work. Added my
amazon Wishlist to the obsession side. Heather needs to make
one. I have a ton of work to do on this site, and am already completely
bored with the design. Sigh. I need to work on other sites though,
so I will do those. Hope to be putting up new pictures in the
SherrodTV archive
soon. I have over a thousand to sort through. If you know PHP
and are willing to come over and help me, I will be your best
friend

I actually updated stuff. Are we shocked? Oh oh yes... we are. I
changed the obsessions to two sites I do, and two sites I actually
look at. schwack's machines are all down, so I can't effectively
work on schwack.com
until he comes back. I think he was gone maybe 3 days before everything
was unreachable. I host redfirenation.com
here at home, and because of my ISP blocking port 80, oh so sweetly,
I've got to rewrite my ipchains, everytime my damn ip changes, which
isn't that often, but, I'm super lazy and super busy, so other things
take priority at times. I'll get around to it. Promise. lowbrow.com
is amazing. I love it. I really sit there and read it for hours.

is a cute little site. I don't check it that often, but god knows
I'm in #gothick undernet pretty much constantly. Its a great channel.
Don't attempt to go there if you suck. Everyone in there gets along
really well, and is uber friendly and I love them. Its really the
best irc channel I've ever been on. I found it interesting that
the help for my uber confusing sendmail question came from plord
in #gothick, whereas the people in another channel, which shall
remain nameless were all wrong. I love them, they are sweet kids,
but, definitely not the only place to find help. plord is my hero.
I've got almost a thousand pictures in the webcam archive. I really
need to do something with them. I need dynamic content generation
in a big way. I am not a programmer though, and my brain just shuts
down when I have to deal with variables. I think Jason might possibly
help me out, or give me forte so I can use it for java. I don't
have a database with the hosting company, and that is really what
I want to do. Sigh. Might have to install mysql on Sifl, and actually
take him seriously. Need to make scripts to update things automagically
when my ip changes. Goodness. So much to do.
Oh, also, I want a digital camera for christmas, my dad said he
would get me one, but I don't know what kinds there are, what I
should look for and things like that. If you have a suggestion please
email me. I would like
to know the model that people use and are happy with. Preferably
something sort of small, I don't need hardcore crazy image quality.
This would just be for taking pictures of my friends, and to add
pictures and stuff to my site. |

Haven't updated in a while. I've been uber busy. Clint is out of
town for a month, so I am rocking out. Tons of parties and clubbing
and fun to be had. I think I might take a few little road trips
too. I have two weeks off for christmas, so there is plenty of free
time.
Have been having great sendmail victories. Learning to use KDE
and gnome and the gimp and stuff too. I always shell in, but lately
I've been messing with x. It's sort of neat. A lot more intuitive
than I thought it would be.
I'm happy right now. Everyone do their part to keep me that way.

Ok, LJ
seems to not be working at all today. No matter really, I have too
many secrets to post anyway. I haven't been pouring my soul out
there like I used to. Too much negative feedback. Guess I'll just
resort to directing my hatred inward and suppressing everything
again.

LJ seems
to be working really well lately. I paid for it, don't know if that
had any impact or not, but its been pretty dependable lately. The
more people I meet, the more I think people can't handle me. I think
people get confused with dealing with me. I've really always thought
that sort of, but now with being so close to the AE, I've picked
up a lot of his habits. He is so different from anyone else I've
ever met. He took a lot of getting used to. I still get nervous
talking with him, and I've been completely immersed for the last
few months. Things are strange. I am changed. Looking forward to
October and November. Lots of things coming up. Good and bad. Hope
I make it. Hope I have company. |
