Wow, I had the most wonderful weekend. I'm in the best mood, woo.
Friday night after I got home from a horrible day at work, Jason
and I took a trip to the Container Store to look for some contraption
for his laptop. While there I stumbed upon the clearance section.
They had monitor covers made of red fur, that looked like devil
horns with a little devil tail! How perfect for BSD computers! I
bought all 12 of them. I plan to give them away as prizes at my
Fantasm panel. After a little more shopping
and meeting up with Heidi, we went to Red Chair - Restaurant and
Video Lounge. Wow, it was super fantastic, gay, gay gay. Our waiter
was delicious. I just love him. His name is Randy and you should
ask for him if you go there. Its in the "Amsterdam Walk"
outlets area in midtown, and in the old space where Fusion, a previous
Secret Room
venue used to be. They have several huge video screens on the walls,
and play videos, on thursdays they have Will and Grace nite. Sounds
fun. The food was good, the waiter rocked, but the food took forever.
We didn't end up getting home until midnight. By then we were all
exhausted and went to bed.
Saturday I got up ridiculously early to go get my eyebrows done
at Spa Sydell. My eyebrow man is a genius and my best friend. I
will never let anyone else touch my brows, for as long as we both
shall live. Look at them, for god's sake - they're perfect. After
a good waxing, I went home and did a ridiculous amount of domestic
chores, and the apartment is almost clean. Saturday night I met
up with Heather to go to Rarity for Red Square Retro and to pick
up a Funker Vogt ticket from Jill.
I wore the blue furry bunny ears and a tutu. The theme was "Catholic
School Girl" night at Secret Room. I decided I was the class
pet. The door boy at Red Square Retro, I believe his name is Josh
- is the hottest little britpop mopheaded bit of candy I've ever
seen. Its like he's straight out of the Charlatans circa 1995. Jill
loaded us up with Flyers and sent us to Secret
Room, at the Chamber. I hate the Chamber, I have never liked
the Chamber, and I probably never will. Its horrid. But, surprisingly,
it wasn't that bad this time. It was the promoter's birthday, and
Frank and the Houston chicks were there, which was nice. It was
also Roy's
Birthday, and god, I just love him. He makes me giggle. I saw lots
of people I know, and lots people I'd rather not. I met a boy. He
is tall. After Secret Room I went to a party with Heather and her
Tennesee import. I think his name is Josh too. I like him, he's
funny. He's good looking as well, but what really matters is that
he makes good jokes. I saw lots of people I like at the party, but
have no idea whose party it was. I went home around 5am and didn't
get to sleep until around 10am.
I slept until 4pm sunday. I checked email, and attempted to clean
some more. Heather said she wanted to get to Funker Vogt early,
and the doors opened at 9pm, so, I started getting dressed pretty
early. I did neat things to my hair. I forgot how much fun crimpers
are. I went to pick her up and visited the upstairs kids for a bit,
then we left. The Riviera is fun. The show was super fantastic and
I'm pretty sure the xpq-21
guy is in love with me.
They opened for Funker Vogt and Jeyenne, the singer has amazing
energy. He likes to take his pants down and show his goods while
performing. I think that's a good thing. I was really enjoying their
music and dancing around a bit. At one point he went down in the
audience and was running around during one of the songs. As soon
as he came near me, I grabbed him by his shirt and started dragging
him around the dance floor. I am so naughty. I think everyone enjoyed
that. I was afraid I scared him, but after Funker Vogt played, he
came over and talked to me. He is so super nice, and his accent
is very cute. He said how much he appreciated me rocking out during
his show. He also mentioned how much he loved it that during Funker
Vogt I just sat over at a table watching them, but was really getting
into it when he was playing. That seemed to really make him happy.
He is very animated and open and I had a good time talking to him.
I love enthusiasm. Rock stars are bad. But, rock stars that are
whiney, snotty, bored, cracked out or otherwise unfun are evil.
He is definitely the opposite of those things, and I appreciate
that. He hugged and kissed me lots and then went to get his rock
star on. I danced around a bit. Appearantly I like Artz+Pfusch.
I danced around to them a lot. I also got a "Hey... you run
that website? Girlvinyl?" from this guy named Nick. He had
a stange accent. New Zealand or something maybe. I love it when
that happens. Sign the guestbook.
Needless to say, I had a wonderful weekend and really appreciate
Jill
working her ass off to bring these bands to Atlanta. I have a
very full week. I'll be on WREK on thursday, thanks to Charles.
The show is called "Tech Talk" it runs from 6:00-7:00.
WREK is 91.9 FM. Friday is Fantasm and
everything before that will be preparation for it. I have so much
to do. Help.

I am very unhappy today. Miserable, in fact. I have plans for tonight
- they involve Cisco and Cyberia. Think that's enough to make me
all better? |

Well, yesterday was sort of fun after work. I grabbed the mongrel
and took her to PetSmart for some delicious dog cookies. She had
a really good time I think. There were lots of other dogs there
to meet and she found a convieniently spilled open bag of huge dog
biscuits lying in the middle of an aisle.
After that I came home and installed my new favourite window manager
- FluxBox. Its so pretty and cool. The slickness factor is very
high. Wanna see a screen
shot? I just downloaded the first theme I saw. Notice how it
makes The Gimp look nice and organized. There are these little tab
things that you can use that do something similar to alt+tab in
MS Windows. Yum. Its pretty neat. I like how compact and sleek it
looks. Very digerati.
I need to add some cool gui apps and then I'll be able to use it
lots and feel fancy. Mmmm, I don't care what anyone says - X
is super cool.
The whole Fantasm
thing is looking sort of messy. I'll just show up with my stuff
and hope I have an audience at all. Please come,
I'm giving away a myriad of cool prizes and promise you will have
a good, if not arousing time.
I have so much work to do. Stress. Whenever I feel overworked or
stressed out, I waste time working on this site. No one can yell
at me for this site looking bad, so that makes it sort of relaxing.
I inserted some flash text on the entry below this one. Doesn't
look like flash does it? Well - it is. I checked my web stats yesterday
and saw that mac was second to windows by operating system request.
I wonder if Mac's OSX indentifies as mac or BSD. Hrm. Someone do
a test or something and let me know.
So, until more people with *nix start looking at my site, I plan
on filling this whole thing up with annoying flash, and popup windows,
and probably will add some background midi music. Heh.
I've been listening to tons of Sebadoh.
Sometimes I just listen to Flame
and Soul
and Fire over and over and over again. I can really rock out
like nobody's business to Flame.
Summer is here, so, its time for a complete shift in ear candy.
I may even be able to veer away from talk
radio if I can find the right combination of Jawbreaker,
Beulah
and Apples
in Stereo. Mmmmm. Summer. |

Ok, there has been a small adjustment
to the fantasm
schedule. My panel will now be Friday
3-4pm in the Dogwood room. It still stands that I will cry if
you don't show up. I know its earlier, but, it'll be really good,
I promise. I've expanded my giveaway box of goodies to include assorted
snack cakes. Bring a friend. |

Well, the official schedule
has been posted for fantasm.
They spelled my fake name wrong. Ack! That's worse than spelling
my real name wrong. I have agreed to do a talk on "Internet
Pr0n". So, basically that means "the Internet". I
know I surely don't use it for anything else. I have an elaborate
and impressive collection of both digital and paper pr0n. I think
this could be an interesting little venture. I need to prepare and
get more information though.
The thing is this, however - the panel before mine is "Quantum
Computing" The panel after mine is "Hacking 101 with
JohnnyX" Both have wide audience appeal, but, I'm afraid
they'll see my hour of pr0n in the middle, and decide that's a
good time to go take a break. I'm going to talk to both JohnnyX
and the Quantum Computing guy to see if they'll maybe tell people
to stick around. Hopefully I'll have a computer and overhead projector
there to show some fancy stuff. My pr0n collection is really of
only two specific types, but I really really have those types
covered. Please come. If no one comes I will cry.
And I'll say I'm starting 10 minutes later than the actual start
time to givepeople a chance to get up and take a break for a minute.
I would really be grateful if you came to see me. I'll be giving
away free CDs of naughty pictures. You can see the little page
I made for it here.

Yeah. Had a weird day. No comments, just Suede dressed up in a "erin

Slumber Party pictures are up. Feel free to check them out. I'll
put captions up as soon as I can - probably tomorrow. They really
need a lot of explaination. |

Ummm, ok. I am super tired. I have been digging through the pictures
from Saturday night. I will put up an image gallery tomorrow I guess.
Here is a lovely picture of my lame ass tending bar. My drinks are
famous. I'm an incredible bartender. I'm wearing the lovely hat
that James got me. So nice of him. Thank you so much - I love it. |

I put up this for your reading
pleasure. I am so busy. Michele is so late. Kill me. |

The sign of a really fucked up sleeping schedule:
I wake up and go check email, then one of the processors starts
going crazy, harddrive spinning, etc... I don't even think twice
- I'm actually used to the nightly cron jobs running. Sick. Sick
and wrong. |

Do you like apples?
I'm in the depths of despair.
How do you like them apples? |

Ok, I am off to Michele's Slumber Party.
I should see you there. I took
pictures of me in my bunny ears. I love them so. I plan on wearing
them everyday for the next several months. I think they're super
cute. I got them at Kroger. Michele got some pink ones. Aren't we
cute? I also am on SherrodTV wearing
them. Click here
for naked chicks. However, bunny ears cannot be guaranteed. |

Again, no time for a proper update, but wow, do I have a lot to
say. I am begging for new job at this point. I also redid the way
I send resumes. Wow, I'm sending them as plain text attatchments
and using netscape [I LOVE netscape mail v4.76] mail on windows.
I sent one to my bsdiva.com
email address and checked it in pine. It looks great! Both the message
and the attatchment in pine look perfect. Nicely formatted, easy
to read, etc. Its such a weight off my shoulders to have all this
nicely set up now. I hate outlook so much. I hate you I hate you
I hate you. Outlook, you suck! This makes me so happy. Mmmmmmmm.
I also checked girlvinyl.com in lynx [I do that more than I'd like
to admit] and it looks pretty damn good too. A friend let me know
that css layers [what this page is done in - entirely] are really
lynx friendly - and he was right. Its just lovely. Although, let's
just admit that the website is pretty pointless without the pictures.
At least people can check up what's going on with me, using ssh
if they want. Roar! |

Friday 08.03.2002 11:33 AM

I am so super stressed. I'm listening to really high bpm techno
or something, and its making me type really fast. I got a ton of
Windows stuff done today. Wow, I had major sendmail victories and
exploration yesterday too. Gosh. I can't even go into it now, its
long and complicated. Everyday for the last few weeks, when I leave
work, my eyes are burning. I think its because I forget to blink
while looking at the monitor. I have so much to do, I can't even
believe it. Tomorrow is friday, and Saturday is Michele's
Slumber Party. Oh my. |
|
Thursday 07.03.2002 5:37 PM

I'm extremely stressed out. Windows is kicking my ass. I have to
have this whole project basically finished by today. At least its
not a network-wide problem, and just an issue with the clients.
In many ways I think samba may have been easier at this point. I've
reloaded and reconfigured too many things, too many times for this
really to have been efficent. At least I learned a ridiculous amount
of crap about Windows networking. Sigh. Its not nearly as fun and
cool as FreeBSD.
Online tests. Mmmm, you know you love them. There's no question
which Smiths song I'm like. It's Ask.
Ask
is my favourite song - probably ever. Only rivaled by Morrissey's
Ammunition.
Both incredibly inspiring. I've always loved Morrissey's solo
work far more than his stuff with the Smiths, although I am a
huge Smiths fan. Seriously, I'm one of those fat Morrissey girls.
If I fall into a stereotype, that's probably it. Ask
was life changing for me. It completely altered my entire outlook.
I think its the reason for a lot of my insanity. I'm still terrified
of things, and I still feel sick walking into a room full of strangers,
but I never let it affect my actions. I can go anywhere and talk
to anyone. Fuck Paxil.
All you need is to listen to this song and understand how you're
ruining your life by not being who you want to be. In fact, I
think I'll take a listen right now and re-commit to beating Windows
into submission. Unf
 |
My Smiths anthem is... "Ask"
You probably have a lot of energy and aren't depressed ...what
are you doing on this quiz? Seriously, you DO like people,
you tend not to overanalyze things, and you do things your
own way (or the way you're told is best - why question it?)
"Ask" is from Louder than Bombs or Best...2. |

I forgot to mention....
There will be another Slumber Party at Michele's on Satuday.
Here is the information in standard invitation form:
What : Slumber Party
Where : Michele's house. email
for directions
When : Satuday March 9th, 11:00pm
Who : Everyone we don't hate
I currently have a wickedly painful velcro burn from the last
slumber party's episode of "Bondage Wars" I think next
time we're going to break up into teams and not have boys against
girls. Boys cheat. Yeah. Seriously, you should come to this.

After work I went by to pick up Michele and my camera. We decided
to go play over at my house. I cut my bangs way too short. I look
awful. Oh well, it'll grow back. You know, often when I'm hacking
away on my bangs, I want to start hacking away at the rest of my
hair. Just chop it right off. Its this overwhelming compulsion.
Luckily I'm able to restrain myself. I wonder what would happen
if I just freaked out and chopped it off. It would probably be fun
for the first five minutes, then I would kill myself. My hair is
some sort of super atomic, not to be believed substance. Its gorgeous
and lovely and makes me happy usually. If you've ever touched it,
you know what I mean.
Michele and I went to the Vortex for trivia and pasta salad. I love
her. She makes me happy and gay. [wink wink] The food and service
left much to be desired. Not the usual for the Vortex. Its usually
great. The place was packed. And when I say 'packed' I mean 'packed
with hot, hot, hot specimens of sexy, young subcultural males' I
was shocked. I didn't eat my grilled cheese due to the overdose
of eyecandy. I wanna go back next week.
On the way home from dropping her off, I was flipping through
the radio stations and came across this
gem. I knew all the words and sang along the whole way home. Heat
turned up, sunroof open. You can hear the pain in her voice. It
made driving almost fun. Speaking of driving - I want to go to
Savannah. Is that wrong? Should I not be posting that thought?
I can't help it. I want to go. I probably won't...but - I want
to.

Well, slumber party was interesting. I have comments that are probably
not appropriate for a public forum. I think Michele and I will plan
another one. I can send the mongrel off to Stef's house and have
it at Sloan Square, or we can do it at her house again. Either way,
I vote for televised and Truth or Dare Jenga - without the Jenga.
We watched The
Smokers, the boys didn't like it so much, but the girls seemed
to. Heh.
I just checked my stats on dreamhost
for girlvinyl.com, I have used 148
out of 150 megs. I've been on a massive deletion spree, but I can't
seem to get it down much below that. So, feel free to buy me a gift
certificate for hosting. Another option is to throw some of
my content on sifl, under bsdiva.com,
but sifl only has a 4 gig hard drive, and I'm hoping I'll actually
need that room for bsdiva.com
content soon. I need to get some content management system going.
PHPnuke seems to be out because of the massive security mess it
is. I vehemently hate slashcode. I don't really have a lot of options.
I could download the livejournal
code, as its GPL, but, I dunno. I so hate livejournal,
I would need to seriously customize it, and take a look at the resources
it uses, and if I could handle that on little Sifl. Sifl is a 200mhz,
32mb ram, sad little server. My dad built him in like 1994 or something.
If you have something around 500+mhz, with a 10gig hd that you don't
need, or want to sell, email
me.
I really need to cut my hair. Its way too long. The bunny emailed
me today. Yea! I can't believe how patient I am. I normally end
up hating people that are too busy for me. There's just something
about a man with guns. Sigh. |

I'm off to Michele's Slumber Party.

Oh gosh. Last night was pretty funny. Dustin
will have pictures eventually. He even has a fancy ass automated
PHP app he wrote, and I still get photos up on the web faster than
anyone.
Took Jason aka DigitalCavityBoi
to get his wisdom teeth out this morning. God, what hell. He has
been all drooling blood for the past few hours. We ran out of gauze,
so I called the Doctor, and they said to pack his mouth with tea
bags. That's right - I'm tea bagging my roommate.
Tomorrow Brandon aka Mr. Brain Dork moves away. Sniffle. Tonight
is his going away slumber party. It's hosted by MissEcho.
I think its going to be super fun. Ouija Board, Twister, Spin the
Bottle, Truth or Dare, make overs, prank calls and much more juvenile
fun to be had. You should come. Call me if you need directions.
Oh, and I can't say enough nice things about Joi and the fab site
he runs, gotblack.com.
I like it lots, go visit it. And join AtlGothTALK
for god's sake. |

Wow. I'm all confused and disoriented. I think I need to eat something.
I conned Michele and Jason and Dustin into going to Casa Grande
for dinner. Call me up if you'd like to join us. I will be enjoying
a delicious virgin strawberry daquiri. Mmmmm. |

I took a test. Heh. Interesting. I guess if I ever start doing drugs,
its cocaine for me. Woo. I always thought of myself as more of the
crack ho type, but maybe I'm really a more 80s, yuppy, American
Psycho type. Online tests are stupid.
Someone submitted
a suggestion for content on BSDiva.com.
Something about grooming tips for geek boys. The only thing I can
really come up with that applies universally is that facial hair
is disgusting - shave it. Also, I've found through my dealings with
geek boys, both super hot, and not so hot, that hair gel - when
used correctly - can drastically improve their appearance. Short
and messy with some prada
hair gel is a formula for success. Actually, prada is a little faggy.
Maybe for the straight boys, a Tigi
Bed Head stick and a bad attitude. Rowr.
I'd really like to go to CPK
for dinner or lunch or something. Someone go with me. |

So, another month. What fun. I added all of february's foolishness
to the archives and now its
time for more. Someone brought Krispy Kreme donuts to work this
morning. I'm buzzing. My teeth are hurting. Oh, the heavenly sugar.
Speaking of heavenly sugar, I talked to the Opressor last night.
Yea! I've been really stressed out lately, and he made it a little
better. Its unfortunate he's too busy to ever see me.
I think tonight is Destination Unknown at Karma. I'm not sure
if I'll go. I've been neglecting X
on sifl. I really need to set that up properly and install a myriad
of fun gui apps. Really I just need to buy another machine to
use as a workstation [debian, damn it]. Monday begins a hellish
week of changing all the user's settings and sitting with them
individually to explain how thier home directories are supposed
to work. Sigh. Someone help me.
